Winston-Salem TEACH partners with 40 high-need Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools to prepare and place exceptional teachers in the classrooms where they are needed most. These schools meet the U.S. Department of Education’s high-need criteria, with at least 60% of elementary students or 45% of middle and high school students qualifying for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch. At Winston-Salem TEACH, our teachers learn, grow, and launch their careers in the high-need schools where their talents are needed most.
Winston-Salem TEACH is proud to partner with 40 high-need Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) to prepare exceptional teachers and strengthen academic achievement in the classrooms where they are needed most. These schools meet the U.S. Department of Education’s high-need criteria, with at least 60% of elementary students or 45% of middle and high school students qualifying for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch.
While earning their Master’s degrees and teaching licenses, our residents complete a year-long, hands-on teaching residency alongside experienced mentor teachers, spending at least two days per week in their partner schools during the fall and five days per week in the spring. Upon completing the program, residents receive priority consideration for employment with WS/FCS and commit to teaching in a high-need school for at least three years.
Through these valued school partnerships, we are building a stronger teacher workforce, advancing student achievement, and creating brighter futures for Winston-Salem’s children.
